Your Pup Will Love These Homemade Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Treats
If your family pup is like a member of the family, make them some yummy homemade treats! These homemade dog treats use high-quality ingredients that are good for your dog and taste good to them, too.
Ingredients
If you don’t already have all of the ingredients for these easy homemade dog treats, you can easily add them to your next grocery store trip:
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
- 2 tbsp. peanut butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Method
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F. Next, stir the flour, eggs, peanut butter, pumpkin, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl. If the dough seems too thick, try adding water a teaspoon at a time until it’s more manageable. However, the dough should still be dry and fairly stiff.
Roll the dough out into a 1/2-inch-thick log and make 1/2-inch slices, or roll the dough out into a sheet and use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut the cookies.
Bake on a parchment-lined baking tray for about 40 minutes or until the treats are hard and dry.

Chicken & Cheese Treats
If you also want to make savory treats, too, this recipe is sure to be a hit with your pup! It uses yellow cornmeal, oats, butter, milk powder, an egg, chicken stock, whole wheat flour, and cheese. These treats are made with a similar process and also cook at 350 for 35-40 minutes, so you can make them at the same time and give your pooch a mix of sweet and savory.
When making these treats, the difference is that you mix the oats, butter, and cornmeal with boiling water then let the oats absorb the water and become oatmeal. After that, you add the milk powder, chicken stock, and shredded cheese. Then, mix in the flour cup by cup until a stiff, dry dough forms. The rest is the same – roll the dough, slice the treats, and bake until dry!
