Benefits of Electric Cars

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 driving

No doubt, rising gas prices have made your Ventura commute more expensive. So, maybe you’ve been pondering the benefits of electric vehicles. You’re not alone. Electric vehicles like the Volkswagen ID.4 have become more and more popular. Of course, there are also the environmental benefits of electric cars and the ability to lower one’s carbon footprint. In addition, there are federal tax credits available to those who purchase these vehicles. Let’s take a closer look at the many benefits of electric cars.

Government Incentives and Tax Benefits of Electric Cars

You may have heard that the U.S. federal government offers a tax credit of up to $7,500 for drivers who purchase an electric car. The State of California offers incentives as well. Here’s a list:

Government Incentives for Electric Vehicles

  • Up to $7,500 in federal tax credits
  • $1,000-$7,000 rebate for purchase or lease of EV provided by California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project
  • Up to $750 discount offered as part of California Clean Fuel Reward (temporarily reduced to $0)

Specifics About the California Clean Fuel Reward

The California Clean Fuel Reward was created as a way that California residents can receive a discount on the purchase or lease of an eligible electric vehicle without being required to apply for a rebate. The discount amount has temporarily been reduced to $0, but should go back up once more funds are released.

  • To get the discount, simply pick out your EV, then deduct $750 from the purchase price (when funds are available).
  • Car must be registered in California to be eligible.

Other Financial Benefits of Electric Vehicles

Did you know that EVs don’t have gas combustion engines and don’t use oil? So, not only will you be making fewer trips to Oxnard gas stations, but you’ll never have to pay for another oil change or certain other types of maintenance.

Environmental Benefits of Electric Cars

The environmental benefits of electric cars are fairly obvious to most Santa Barbara drivers. Since EVs like the Volkswagen ID.4 use no gas or oil, they produce zero emissions and do not directly burn up fossil fuels. Basically, they provide all the advantages of owning a car without any of the guilt.
