2019 Volkswagen Atlas S vs SEL Premium
The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas is one of the more popular models that the VW brand has. So, it should be no surprise that there are many trims to go along with it. Because of this, there are many little differences you can see on an Atlas SUV. To help you figure out if you want a higher or lower trim of the Atlas, we have decided to compare the bottom of the Atlas, the S trim, with the top trim, the SEL Premium with 4MOTION®.
This way, you’ll be able to see the extreme differences between the trims. Based on this, you can potentially decide if you are looking for a trim that is on the lower end of the scale, or one that is on the higher end of the scale.
Because of the many little differences, we can’t exactly tell you all of them! That’s why we have chosen more of the main differences between the two. This means we will be comparing horsepower, torque, technologies, and packages available on the trims. Let’s start!

As you can see, the top trim is more powerful than the lowest trim, but probably not enough to sway anyone to one or the other on its own. However, the available and standard features on the top trim might. As you can see, there are many things that the SEL Premium has that the S doesn’t. This includes things like a standard sunroof, navigation, a keyless ignition, and cooled/ventilated seats. Speaking of seats, you’ll have cloth seats on the Atlas S and leather seats SEL Premium. If you want, you can also get the 2nd row captain’s chairs package on the top trim as well.
This doesn’t mean that the lower trims aren’t quality vehicles. They share great features like the 8-inch ground clearance, 20.6 cu. ft. of cargo space when the seats are up, and a 7-person seating capacity.
