In addition to style and performance, Volkswagen models are legendary thanks to the number of standard and available advanced safety features! Two of the most popular features available on 2018 Volkswagen models include Lane Assist and Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking. Keep scrolling for a closer look at how these innovative technologies work!

Volkswagen Technology: Lane Assist

The Volkswagen Lane Assist system works to recognize lane markings using a rearview-mounted camera. This system alerts you when you begin to veer outside of your lane without using a turn signal by gently correcting your steering. This system cannot replace physical steering, however. If your hands are removed from the wheel for more than 15 seconds, the system will audibly and visually alert you to take over the steering. Lane Assist will not correct steering when you use your turn signal and it is inactive when travelling under 40 miles per hour. Lane Assist can be turned on or off in the gauge cluster with the steering wheel controls or on the infotainment system.

Volkswagen Technology: Front Assist

Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking from Volkswagen works to not only warn you of a potential crash but to also assist you in braking and trying to avoid the collision. The Front Assist system uses a sensor to monitor activity in front of the vehicle, identifying possible hazards. If the system detects a hazard in front of your vehicle, it will alert you both audibly (with a chime) and visibly (with a small icon on the dashboard). The system also prepares the brakes for emergency braking, meaning it will take less time and power to slow your vehicle to a complete stop if you need to avoid a collision. If you don’t apply enough power to the brakes, the system can help to stop your vehicle automatically.
